The Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR is a compact all-in-one zoom for Nikon DX-format DSLRs - the grab-and-go lens you can keep on your camera for nearly every situation. Its versatile 7.8x zoom range runs from 18mm wide-angle for family portraits and landscapes to 140mm telephoto for sports-field close-ups.
Nikon's VR image stabilisation provides 4 stops of shake compensation (CIPA standard), so handheld photos and video stay sharp even in low light or at maximum focal length. The Silent Wave Motor (SWM) delivers high-speed, accurate and super-quiet autofocus, while internal focusing keeps the barrel length constant during AF operation.
The optical design uses 17 elements in 12 groups with one ED (extra-low dispersion) glass element and one aspherical element, plus Nikon's Super Integrated Coating, to draw the full potential from high-resolution DX sensors with softly blurred backgrounds. Focus gets as close as 0.45m for macro-style close-ups, and the Auto/Manual (A-M) mode allows smooth manual-focus override just like a conventional manual-focus lens.
